Where we stand with this month's Windows and Office security patches

5 monthes ago   |   By Computerworld

September's retinue of Microsoft patches includes one very important .NET fix that blocks a security hole brought to life when you open an RTF file in Word . It's only been seen, so far, in a spear phishing Russian-language RTF document, apparently generated by NEODYMIUM, allegedly used by a nation-state to snoop on a Russian-speaking target. If that describes your situation, you're in a world of hurt, for many reasons beyond a humble booby-trapped RTF file.
The Win10 Creators Update cumulative update, KB 4038788 , brings Win10 1703 up to build 15063.608. It contains 25 security patches as...

Microsoft seems to be positioning its mobile efforts for a category-defining full Windows 10 ultramobile PC with phone capabilities. But how will Microsoft and its partners position and market ultramobile PCs if they become a reality?
The existence of Microsoft's mobile strategy is debatable . One fact is certain, however, Microsoft needs a mobile device to ensure present and future personal computing relevance.
Smartphones are at the center of technologies that are shaping the future computing landscape. Without a mobile device, Microsoft is solidifying its position as a non-participant...

Forget Windows 10 S - Microsoft needs a true 'lite' version of Windows

Forget Windows 10 S - Microsoft needs a true 'lite' version of Windows

5 monthes ago   |   By Windows Central

Microsoft needs a real, lightweight version of Windows 10 that removes the bloatware of Win32 and focuses primarily on being a web-first...
