Vine founder Dom Hofmann revealed Thursday he would be releasing a new looping video app next spring.
The app will be called Byte.
Vine was a massively popular video service that Twitter acquired in 2012 and shut down four years later.
Good news, long-suffering Vine fans: A successor to the popular video service is finally on the way.
Dom Hofmann, one of the cofounders of Vine, plans to launch a similar app called Byte next spring. Like Vine, Byte will feature looping videos, Hofmann announced Thursday on Twitter.

There's some good news for Vine fans or ex-creators. Dom Hofmann, co-founder of Vine, has teased today via Twitter that the successor to Vine is going to be called "Byte" and will launch in Q2 of the upcoming year. The platform will presumably be based on the same premise of the original Vine app: create or post video clips that loop forever.
More specific details haven't been unveiled like: How long can the videos be? Where will we be able to share these videos? What features will the Byte app have? There are more questions than answers right now.

Vine co-founder plans to launch successor Byte in Spring 2019

7 days ago   |   By TechCrunch

Vine - the much loved and mourned short video hosting platform - will return, kind of, sort of. Co-creator Dom Hofmann announced on Twitter today that its spiritual success is set to arrive next spring.
Details? We don't have many. Though Hofmann did give us a name - Byte - and logo to match. From the sound out of, things will operate similarly to Vine, with short, looping videos. So far it's got a domain and a couple of admittedly clunky social media handles.

Byte is the name of Vine's successor and is launching in Spring 2019

Hi welcome to Chili's.
As hard as it is to believe, it's been almost two years since Twitter officially shut down Vine in January 2017. Vine's founder Don Hofmann shared a logo for "V2" last December suggesting that a sequel to Vine was in the works, and now almost a year later, we know what it'll be called and when we'll be able to play around with it.
No, it's not called Vine 2. The new video looping service is called "Byte", and according to a tweet from Hofmann this afternoon, it'll launch in Spring 2019.
You can register for updates at byte.co, and if you want to follow the service on...

Vine's successor Byte launches next spring

Vine lives, according to co-creator Dom Hofmann. The entrepreneur, who's been working on and off on a spiritual successor to the now-defunct short-form video app, says the proper sequel will be called Byte , and it's coming in spring 2019.
Twitter initially purchased Vine in 2012, before its official launch, and shut it down roughly four years later. Despite its short-lived existence, Vine became a hugely popular platform for video creators, many of whom have since moved on to Instagram, Twitch, and YouTube.
Now, Hofmann, one of the co-creators of the platform, is reviving it as Byte...
