Apple is falling after it announced the iPhone X

2 monthes ago   |   By Business Insider

Apple announced the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 3 and a new Apple TV on Tuesday. All were extensively leaked before the event and investors don't seem overly bullish on the company after hearing all Apple has to offer.
Shares of Apple are down 0.90% in early trading on Wednesday, the day after the announcement event. The flagship announcement, the iPhone X, featured a screen that takes up most of the front of the phone.
UBS said Apple usually moves up or down about a couple percent the day of its announcement event. It then rises slightly from the event to the...

Apple may have handed Netflix an easy way to make more money without angering its subscribers

2 monthes ago   |   By Business Insider

On Tuesday at Apple's iPhone launch extravaganza, the company also announced a new Apple TV that supports 4K and HDR , both of which are upgrades of picture quality.
And the biggest winner from the new Apple TV will likely be Netflix, analysts from Bank of America Merrill Lynch wrote in a note Wednesday. Netflix has a pretty robust selection of TV shows and movies that take advantage of those features, but the real boon for Netflix is that getting access to titles in 4K requires its expensive plan.
"Overall, we see Netflix as the biggest beneficiary in our coverage from Apple TV as it...

IPhone 8 or iPhone X: which one would you go for?

IPhone 8 or iPhone X: which one would you go for?

2 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

So, Apple unveiled 3 new phones, as rumored. We have the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus duo, which are basically upgraded versions of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. That makes it the 4th year in a row that Apple reiterates the design language of the iPhone 6, but hey - the 8 has a glass back, so that's different.
Then, we have the iPhone X - a handset that revolutionizes the Apple lineup with an all-screen front, a complete lack of a home button and Touch ID, and... well there's not much more in there. For those of you that were super-hyped by the rumors leading up to the ...

IPhone X Face ID can only recognize 1 face

2 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

The new Face ID on the Apple iPhone X only supports one face, so it will not be possible to share your phone easily with a family member or a friend.
In contrast, Touch ID, the fingerprint recognition method used in iPhones in the past few years, supports up to 5 different fingerprints, which makes sharing your phone with family members much easier.
Keep in mind that Apple has removed the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone X completely, instead relying on Face ID. The company has said that ...

IPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE: This is Apple's fall 2017 iPhone lineup

2 monthes ago   |   By TheBoyGeniusReport

Apple's 2017 iPhone event is now behind us, which means you can soon buy new iPhones. Well, that's partially true, since only the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus go on sale this Friday. The iPhone X will be available for preorder only on October 27th, and will then be released on November 3rd.
As expected, Apple quietly dropped the prices on all the older iPhones it sells. That's something the company does every year, so it's not a surprise for Apple fans looking for cheaper phones. But Apple also decided to keep its iPhones from two years ago, and it made the iPhone SE cheaper than ever.

Why the iPhone X is the new iPhone you'll want now

Why the iPhone X is the new iPhone you'll want now

2 monthes ago   |   By TechCrunch

The iPhone X is billed as a future-focused device with a lot of cutting edge tech, available at a premium. It kind of reminds me of the positioning of the original MacBook Air, or the new MacBook, when those two devices were first introduced - tomorrow's tech, available today, but for a bit more money and with a few trade-offs as a result of being ahead of its time. And the iPhone...

Apple wants appmakers to avoid the notch when designing for iPhone X

2 monthes ago   |   By The Next Web

During its annual special event yesterday, Apple lifted the lid on its all-new iPhone X - a handset it labels the future of smartphones. But it seems the future will be a little more of a hassle for developers and designers, than it will be for consumers. The iPhone X represents a significant departure from the iterative form factors we've come to expect from Apple, introducing an enhanced edgeless OLED display, a new FaceID facial recognition technology and a rounded all-glass design. But perhaps its most eye-catching aspect currently remains the notch at the top of the screen. It...

I don't want the new iPhone X and I can't be alone

2 monthes ago   |   By TechCrunch

Apple announced the latest iPhone yesterday. It's thinner, faster and has a better screen than the previous model. But of course it does. That's how these things go. But the phone also lacks things I consider part of my daily life. I'm lost. This iPhone is not for me.
Without these two features, I'll stick with the boring and passé iPhone 8. The iPhone X follows a...

Apple iPhone X: all the rumors that didn't come true

2 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

So the iPhone X finally got unveiled last night, after months of waiting from fans - and, uh, there were literally no surprises? Apple, the company which for many years used the element of surprise as a key marketing tactic, somehow managed to have the entirety of the device revealed prematurely, thanks to two major leaks coming straight from its own software.
Guess those anti-leak measures didn't do much, huh?
But both of those leaks were the culmination of a year-long race for everyone even remotely connected to Apple to try ...

IPhone X beats Macbook Pro in benchmarks

2 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

The Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus all come with a brand new system chip: the Apple A11 Bionic, and Apple was not shy about saying that it is the best chip ever put on a smartphone.
What it did not mention is that it might actually beat an Intel Core i series chip on the MacBook Pro in benchmarks as well.
The new iPhone X with the A11 has popped up on popular cross-platform benchmark app GeekBench and its score is actually higher than that of a 2017 MacBook Air and a 2017 Core i5 MacBook Pro. It's also ...

T-Mobile just got burned by Apple and the iPhone X

2 monthes ago   |   By TheBoyGeniusReport

Apple announced the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus today. They're all great phones in many ways, but they have one fatal flaw for T-Mobile and its customers: No support for T-Mobile's new LTE network.
Right now, T-Mobile is in the early stages of rolling out a brand-new 600MHz network nationwide. The first sites are already online , and T-Mobile is expecting to cover a million square miles by the end of 2017. But the 600MHz network uses a brand-new LTE channel, Band 71, and very few devices support it yet. Sadly for T-Mobile, you can't add the iPhone 8 or iPhone X to that list.

IPhone X vs. iPhone 8: which should you buy?

2 monthes ago   |   By The Verge

Yesterday, Apple announced the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X specs , pricing, release dates , and we got to try them out . But which of these three phones is right for you? It depends on your hobbies and daily activities, of course, but I've broken it down to what's most worth it depending on what you're looking for. If you are in desperate need of a phone immediately, it's important to note that the iPhone X won't be out until November 3rd, and the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come out September 22nd, so you might settle for an iPhone 8 or have to tide yourself over with a cheaper iPhone 7 Plus in the...

The dust is settling, the smoke is clearing, and we're left with five sleek products that combine to make up Apple's new lineup ahead of the holidays. The new Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch Series 3 both appear to be nice iterative upgrades, and the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are big steps forward compared to last year's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple has backed itself into an awkward corner with the iPhone X and its new naming system

2 monthes ago   |   By Business Insider

Apple announced three new iPhones at its event yesterday, setting up an awkward naming problem for next year's models.
It called them iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X - where the X reads as "ten," as this is the 10th anniversary edition iPhone. That sets up a puzzle for next year, spotted by UBS analysts Steven Milunovich and Benjamin Wilson:
"We're surprised at the naming. We expected the iPhone X to be pronounced 'X' rather than 'ten.' Ten makes sense as the tenth year anniversary, but why not just call it the iPhone 10? Ten makes the new iPhone 8 sound old - maybe that's...
