One year ago   |   By SlashGear

Some Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners began seeing the Android Oreo update arrive in recent days, but Samsung has put a stop to that. Unfortunately, those who haven't received the Android 8.0 update yet will...

Essential Phone gets Android 8.1 Oreo beta update

Essential Phone gets Android 8.1 Oreo beta update

One year ago   |   By PhoneDog

A couple of weeks ago, Essential delivered a bad news-good news combo, saying that it was delaying the Essential Phone's Oreo update but that it'd release an Android 8.1 update instead of 8.0 as a result. Now the first 8.1 beta has been released to testers.
Essential says that it's now pushing Oreo Beta 8.1 to the Essential Phone over the air. The update includes dynamic calendar and clock icons, a slow-scrolling jitter fix, the February 2018 Android security patches, and more.
This update is only available to beta testers right now. If you're not already running a beta update on your...

Samsung starts teasing S9 and S9+ with three new short videos

One year ago   |   By MobileSyrup

Samsung has started posting Galaxy S9 teaser videos to Samsung Mobile Korea YouTube channel. While the teasers don't show the two new devices in the flesh, they not-so-subtly point towards some of the features consumers can expect from the company's new pair of flagship smartphones. For instance, in the first of the three teasers, the video shows a montage of fast moving athletes and objects like race cars and jet planes. As the teaser comes to its inevitable conclusion, the number nine appears on screen, slowing down the action and framing a wingsuit glider. It's a pretty obvious nod to...

Samsung just stopped its Android 8.0 Oreo release without explaining what went wrong

Samsung just stopped its Android 8.0 Oreo release without explaining what went wrong

One year ago   |   By TheBoyGeniusReport

After months of testing, Samsung finally released the official Android 8.0 Oreo update for its Galaxy S8 a few days ago. So what if it arrived nearly six months after Google first launched Oreo? At least some Galaxy S8 users - not all of them - were able to install it on their devices.
Surprisingly, however, Samsung pulled the update and a new version is currently in development. It's unclear what went wrong, or whether or not a serious issue might now impact anyone who already installed the update.

Samsung has apparently halted the rollout of the Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung has apparently halted the rollout of the Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+

One year ago   |   By GSMArena

After a long beta testing period, Samsung finally sent out the update to Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ last week. Since then the new version has only managed to reach a handful of markets, such as Turkey, Norway, the UAE, India, Belgium, Germany, France, and Poland.
Today a report claims that the company has unexpectedly stopped the rollout. Samsung has pulled the firmware files for the two smartphones from its servers, so you can no longer grab them in any way.
This obviously won't affect you if you've already updated your device, but if you weren't that lucky it's...
