Samsung may return the fingerprint scanner to the front with the Galaxy S9

For the most part the Samsung Galaxy S8 is an improvement on the Samsung Galaxy S7 , but moving the fingerprint scanner to the back was arguably a change for the worse. However, a patent suggests it's one Samsung's looking to remedy for the Galaxy S9. Found by GalaxyClub , a Samsung patent application shows a fingerprint scanner built into a little notch at the bottom of the screen, a lot like the notch on the Essential Phone or to a lesser extent the iPhone X , but at the bottom rather than the top, and housing a scanner rather than a camera. A new patent application has just popped up, revealing a rather saucy and intriguing tidbit of info pertaining to the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
According to it, Samsung could be entertaining the idea of taking a page of Apple's and Essential's books and toying around with a bottom-placed display notch, which would be used to house an front-facing fingerprint sensor. That way, it would be placed way more conveniently than the awkward sensor on the Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8, which requires you to really stretch out those index fingers of yours.
