When HTC's U12+ came out earlier this year, it was only available in two colours in Canada: ‘Translucent Blue' and ‘Ceramic Black'. Starting today, it's also available in a new ‘Solar Red' colour. The Solar Red variant features 64GB and 6GB of RAM. The red variant costs $1,099 CAD, the same price as the blue and black variants. Other than physical appearance, there isn't much of a difference between the different models. When HTC introduced the U12+ earlier this year , it said the new flagship would be sold in three colors: Ceramic Black, Translucent Blue, and Flame Red. Those of us in the U.S. have only had access to the Ceramic Black and Translucent Blue versions to date, but that's now changing.

The HTC U12 Plus is now available from HTC in Flame Red. This was one of the three colors that was announced for the U12 Plus when it debuted a few months ago, however it wasn't available just yet. HTC had said that it would be available a bit further down the line, and well, that means today. You can purchase the HTC U12 Plus in Flame Red as an unlocked smartphone, or an AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon variant. Unfortunately, it is not available in the 128GB unlocked version.

When HTC unveiled the U12+ back in May, the Taiwan-based brand showcased a total of three colors: Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black, and Flame Red. These were subsequently made available to purchase in international markets but consumers in the US failed to receive the latter color. HTC today made its flagship phone available in a third color option. Consumers interested in a red phone can now pick that instead of black or blue. The red U12+ carries the same $799 retail price as the others. Other than the color, the specs of the phone are unchanged.
