T-Mobile Isn't Doing A Great Job Selling Its Merger To The Justice Department

3 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

The FCC said that it would give its blessing to the T-Mobile/Sprint merger deal earlier today. However, the Department of Justice is not giving its blessing, yet.
T-Mobile revised its merger plan recently, which included selling off Boost Mobile after the merger was finalized. Which actually made a lot of sense, even without thinking about the antitrust issues. Seeing as there was already Metro by T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile included in this deal. But the Justice Department doesn't believe that's enough to for approval.
While T-Mobile and Sprint did have to meet some conditions from the FCC...

This morning we told you that FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has recommended that his fellow Commissioners approve the T-Mobile-Sprint merger. The Justice Department might kill T-Mobile and Sprint's merger despite likely FCC approval

3 monthes ago   |   By The Verge

T-Mobile and Sprint started the day with very good news when FCC chairman Ajit Pai said he would urge the commission to approve their industry-transforming merger. Stocks of both companies soared soon after. But only a few hours later, Bloomberg is reporting that the US Department of Justice is leaning toward blocking the merger over antitrust concerns. This isn't the first time we've heard that the Justice Department remains unconvinced that a combined T-Mobile and Sprint would be a positive development for consumers.

AT&T Defends Selling Your Location Data To The Highest Bidder

3 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

In a new letter sent to the FCC today, AT&T is defending its selling of your location data. This is despite the company actually stopping this practice earlier this year.
Last summer, all four major carriers were caught selling its users' location data, to just about anything. Motherboard went through a pretty thorough investigation to find this out. And found just how easy it would be to track someone, using the data that the carriers sell to third parties. After that investigation shed light on the issue, all four carriers stopped selling data. While some, like AT&T couldn't stop doing...

FCC Greenlights T-Mobile/Sprint Merger Despite Mounting Concerns

3 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

The United States Federal Communications Commission greenlit the proposed merger of T-Mobile and Sprint following a lengthy review started last year, Chairman Ajit Pai said in a statement published Monday.
While the agency's probe of the deal has yet to be officially closed, the fact that its Chairman confirmed he intends to recommend the tie-in attempt for approval to his colleagues is essentially the same thing; with the Trump administration being in charge of the U.S. government, Mr. Pai represents a 3-to-2 majority at the telecom regulator's top committee, so what he says goes.
