Apple's Group FaceTime delay is the right move. Here's why

1 month ago   |   By Macworld

This week, Apple removed Group FaceTime from the beta for iOS 12 and macOS Mojave. The company indicated that the feature will not appear in the initial release, but will rather appear in a subsequent update released later in the year. For people who were excited about audio and video chats with multiple friends, this is a bummer. (I heard from several people who said their kids were especially looking forward to using the feature, or were using it in the beta period and were sad that it's going to be removed for a little while.) But I'm a little less down on Apple making this decision...

Apple releases iOS 12 beta 8 update

Apple releases iOS 12 beta 8 update

1 month ago   |   By PhoneDog

Apple today released its second iOS 12 beta update this week.
iOS 12 beta 8 is now available for developers. It can be downloaded over the air by going into Settings > General > Software update on your iOS device, or by pointing your web browser at Apple's Developer Center.
Apple released iOS 12 beta 7 a couple of days ago , but pulled the update shortly after it rolled out after some users ran into lengthy delays when launching an app. That's likely why we're seeing iOS 12 beta 8 so shortly after iOS 12 beta 7 was released.
There's no iOS 12 beta 8 update for the public testers in Apple's...

Apple quickly deploys new iOS 12 beta fixing grave stability issues

1 month ago   |   By Phone Arena

System stability has almost always been a key strength for iOS devices when compared to their more popular Android rivals, but after an eleventh major software release last year that made headlines with an unusually high number of catastrophic or just super-annoying bugs, Apple decided to focus specifically on that area in iOS 12.
Unveiled more than two months ago and widely expected to complete beta tests in another month or so, the latest OS version for "modern" iPhones and iPads has yet to achieve its main objective.
Luckily, that's what the Apple Developer Program is for, ...

Apple Pushes iOS 12 Beta 8 to Developers

Apple has made iOS 12 Beta 8 available to developers. Beta 8 appears after Apple pulled Beta 7, which introduced performance problems to devices earlier this week. The new beta resolves the issues that appeared in Beta 7. Apple didn't spell out any other specific changes in this build other than bug fixes and improvements. iOS 12 includes a number of new features, such as improved notifications, memoji for the iPhone X, performance refinements, Screen Time for monitoring usage, and better security. The final version of iOS 12 won't arrive until September or October. A new public beta is...

IOS 12 developer beta 8 is now available to download

1 month ago   |   By TheBoyGeniusReport

On Monday, Apple released and then quickly pulled the seventh developer beta of iOS 12, following numerous reports of major performance issues. It was a slightly embarrassing moment for Apple's software team, especially given how close we are to the general release of iOS 12, but at least there's good news: We get to do the whole thing over again today, just with developer beta 8 rather than developer beta 7.
The performance issues appeared to break simple things, like app launches. On my iPhone X, I found that apps would take ten times longer than usual to load when launched, and the lock...
