Apple ends its photo printing service after 16 years

If you're a fan of Apple's photo printing service, you won't like this news one bit. According to a new message popping up in the Photos app, Apple appears to be discontinuing its Photo Print Products service. First launched in 2002, Photo Prints Products grew from supporting simple prints to producing albums, calendars, and photo books. The message, first spotted by 9to5Mac , instructs users of macOS 10.13.6 to make their “final purchases” by September 30 of this year. Buried among all of this morning's MacBook news that Apple will be pulling the plug on its Photo Print Products services. That tidbit was first noted by the folks at 9to5Mac , courtesy of an app pop-up noting that the service will sunset at the end of September.
The service has been around for a while, dating back to 2002, in those dark days when Photos was still iPhoto. For more than 15 years, Apple has offered a photo printing service inside of Photos called Photo Print Products. That service will come to an end later this year. The company announced the move via a notification users can see inside Photos. Apple is planning to cease its Photo Print Products service at the end of September, as spotted by 9to5Mac. The feature let users order albums, photo books, prints, and other items featuring pictures stored in Photos. Final print orders must be placed by September 30th, 2018, according to a new pop-up message that appears in Photos when running macOS 10.13.6.
