Google Home speakers get free YouTube Music streaming

4 monthes ago   |   By SlashGear

Google Home owners can now use the smart speaker to stream audio from YouTube Music for free. This provides those customers with music streaming on Google Home straight out of the box, but there is a catch: the free service is subsidized by the presence of advertisements. Google Home users will need to setup the speaker to use YouTube Music...

YouTube Music is now free on Google Home smart speakers, but there's a catch

4 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

Google has just announced that its YouTube Music service is now available on all Google Home smart speakers. Starting today, those who own a Google Home smart speaker will be able to enjoy all the benefits offered by the music streaming service, but there's a catch.
Only the first tier YouTube Music experience is available on Google Home smart speakers, which means you you'll have to put up with ads. Still, if you don't mind getting a free, ad-supported music experience on your Google Home, you just need to say “Hey Google, play techno vibes,” and your smart speaker should do the rest.

You can listen to YouTube Music for free on Google Home devices with ads

4 monthes ago   |   By MobileSyrup

Google is letting Google Home and Assistant-enabled device owners listen to YouTube Music for free with ads. This means that anyone with a Google Home device can ask it to play YouTube Playlists and a few other things, but not specific songs, albums or artists. To play those, you'll need to subscribe to Youtube Music Premium. An example of what you can ask the service to play for free is something like “Hey Google, play Latin vibes,” according to YouTube's blog post. If you do request a song, album or artist the service plays music that it thinks is related to what you asked for. This is...

Google Keep Now Supports the Apple Watch, Apple's Notes Still AWOL

4 monthes ago   |   By TidBITS

Do you want content from your iOS notes app to show up on your Apple Watch? You're out of luck with Apple's Notes, but Google Keep now has watchOS support. It won't likely trigger defections from Notes, but iOS users invested in Google's ecosystem will be happy. Note, though, that other Apple Watch-friendly notes apps exist.

YouTube Music is now free with ads on Google Home devices

4 monthes ago   |   By TechCrunch

Following reports that Amazon is preparing to launch a free, streaming music service for Echo owners, Google today announced YouTube Music will be free on its Google Home smart speakers and other Google Assistant-powered speakers - like those from JBL, Panasonic, Sony and others. The free service will be ad-supported, and available in select markets, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, parts of Europe and elsewhere.
The move appears to be a preemptive strike in light of Amazon's plans. Bloomberg had reported last week that Amazon would soon launch a free streaming service and Spotify...

YouTube Music is now available free on Google Home speakers

4 monthes ago   |   By Pocket-lint

Google has given YouTube Music a leg up by making an ad-supported version free on all Google Home speakers. It rather seems like Google is trying to make YouTube Music its default music service despite the wide-support for Google Play Music. In fact, the same free service is available on any Google Assistant-powered speaker , not just Google Home. The service is limited to general themed-based stations rather than specific requests. Naturally, you can upgrade to YouTube Music Premium for $9.99/£9.99 a month so you can request specific albums, songs, artists, and playlists on-demand.
Which...

Google Home smart speakers can now play music from YouTube Music's free ad-supported tier. Previously, in order to listen to YouTube music on your Google Assistant smart speaker you'd have to subscribe to Google's paid YouTube Music Premium service for $9.99 a month. The new service is available now on the Google Home speaker and other Google Assistant smart speakers in 16 countries including the US, UK, and Australia.
Unfortunately, the free tier doesn't let you request specific songs from the smart speaker. Instead it's meant for playlists like “Latin Vibes.” When we asked Google to...
