Android 10 will just be called. Android 10

2 monthes ago   |   By Liliputing

Google has been using the code name Android Q to refer to the next version of smartphone, tablet, and smart TV operating system while it's still in development. But when it's ready for release in a few weeks, it'll just be called Android 10. Of course, Google usually gives new versions of Android a number....

Say Goodbye To Desserts: Android Q Becomes Android 10

Say Goodbye To Desserts: Android Q Becomes Android 10

2 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

For months, we all wondered what Google might name Android Q. Seeing as there aren't a whole lot of dessert names that start with "Q".
Well, Google solved that issue. It dropped "Q" and is simply calling it, "Android 10".
This represents a big change for Google, and with Android 10, it seemed like a good time to make that change. Since Android was acquired by Google, with Android 1.5, it has been given dessert nicknames. From Cupcake to Pie. Now with Android Q, it's just simply, Android 10. It's definitely going to take some getting used too.
Why the change from desserts?
As Google...

Android Q name is revealed as plain old Android 10 - desert names are gone

2 monthes ago   |   By Pocket-lint

As part of a major rebranding, Google has announced that its fun desert names for Android versions are gone. Android Q has a name, and it's just plain old Android 10. It goes further than that too. It isn't just because it was almost impossible to find a popular desert name beginning with the letter Q for the latest update. Going forward, Google says it's only going to use numbers. And that means we already know what next year's is going to be called - Android 11.

Android Q is now Android 10 as Google makes huge brand shakeup

2 monthes ago   |   By SlashGear

As we close in on Android's 11th birthday, Google has announced a major update to the operating system's brand. Perhaps the biggest component of this brand shake up is a change in the way Google names Android releases. On top of that, Google is also giving the Android logo a bit of an update. Android Q is officially named Android 10

Android Q is officially named Android 10

2 monthes ago   |   By TechRadar

Google has announced that Android Q will now come with an all-new, rather boring name: Android 10. This bucks the trend of Android operating systems being named after sweet foods, and marks a change in the naming direction in the forward. In fact, the moniker Android 'Q' seems like it's been dropped altogether, which signals the next operating system won't be Android R, which Google puts down to consumer choice "we've heard feedback over the years that the names weren't always understood by everyone in the global community". It's true that 'Android 10' is a lot more easy to interpret as...

Google ditches desserts as Q becomes Android 10

Google ditches desserts as Q becomes Android 10

2 monthes ago   |   By TechCrunch

The dessert naming scheme was one of the best-loved legacies from Google past (though some were notably better than others ). Every time the company got ready to release a new version of the mobile operating system, speculation would mount about which sweet foodstuff on which the company would ultimately settle. But while P offered confections a plenty, Q has been far less straightforward.
Quiche was questionable, at best - ditto for quesadillas and quinoa. With that giant question mark waiting for it with the next release, the company's opted instead to abandon the beloved naming scheme...

Google dropping dessert names starting with Android 10

Google dropping dessert names starting with Android 10

2 monthes ago   |   By MobileSyrup

This year will be the last year that Google uses dessert names for its operating systems starting with Android 10 kicking off the new branding. 9to5Google reported that the operating system will only be followed by a version number because the tech giant said it found it hard to find dessert names that were universally known. Vice-president of product Sameer Samat told 9to5Google that the company was able to find options like Queens Cake and quindim - a type of custard - for Q, but the latter is mainly popular in Brazil and the rest of the world may not know it. “One piece of feedback...

Google redesigns the Android brand for the first time since 2014

2 monthes ago   |   By Android Central

Streamlined wordmark and new colors are accompanied by body-free robot head across the brand.
Google has just unveiled the latest version of the Android brand , marking the third official design under its tutelage and the first change since 2014. The new branding changes the look of the "Android" wordmark, incorporates a new palette of available colors, and officially kills off the full "bugdroid" robot in favor of incorporating just its head into the official logo.
At first glance, the rebrand looks subtle; and well, it is. But that doesn't mean it's lacking thought. And there's quite a...

Google deserts desserts: Android 10 is the official name for Android Q

2 monthes ago   |   By The Verge

Image: Android
Google has officially named the next version of Android, which is due to be released this fall: Android 10. Breaking the 10-year history of naming releases after desserts, the company is bailing on providing a codename beginning with a subsequent letter of the alphabet , which is the way we've been referring to Android up to now. This year is Android 10, next year will be Android 11, and so on.
After a quarter of quiet, the quintessence of Android's brand has quickly changed without quarrel, resolving a quandary and quitting the quixotic quest to pull a Q dessert out of the...
