Apple Music for Android update finally brings support for Android Auto, friends mix, more

The last Apple Music beta build was a bit of a teaser for those waiting for Android Auto support, but that was about three weeks ago. Today, Apple Music is finally bringing Android Auto support to everyone using the Android app, not just those who have the beta version installed.
Along with Android Auto support, the update adds a handful of other features and improvements, such as the option to search by lyrics, and a new Artist Page so that you can play an artist with one tap, or browse all of the music with the improved design.

Apple has updated its Apple Music application for Android devices and improved the app's usefulness in the car. Android device owners can now access their Apple Music service through the Android Auto user interface in the car. Apple Music also offers search by lyrics using a few words to find songs. The app tosses in a new artist page, letting people view artist information and play artist's hits with a tap, and the friends mix, which shows a playlist of songs liked by friends. Apple has just released an update for Apple Music on Android, and the biggest new addition is that it now supports Android Auto. So if you're an Android user but prefer Apple's music subscription service over Google Play Music or Spotify for whatever reason, now you can listen to it through Google's in-car platform. Available with the v2.6 update.
It might seem like a sin to use Apple Music on an Android phone, but to be perfectly honest, it's a great alternative to the likes of Spotify, YouTube Music, etc. As part of the v2.6.0 update that's rolling out to the Apple Music app now, you can finally use it in Android Auto.
When you're in Android Auto, you can now tap on the music icon and select Apple Music from the list of available services. All of the controls work just like they do with other music apps in Android Auto, and while this is a feature that's been a long time coming, it's great to see it...
