Instagram is testing a web version of Instagram Direct, according to a recent leak. The leak comes from known leaker Jane Manchun Wong , and she says that the web version of Instagram on mobile and desktop are getting the chat feature. Instagram is testing its direct message feature for the web on mobile and on the desktop, according to app researcher Jane Manchun Wong , who tweeted a screenshot of the feature.
Currently, the desktop experience on Instagram is a minimal, pared-down version of the mobile app that shows little more than the feed. Insta-chat addicts, rejoice. You could soon be trading memes and emojis from your computer. Instagram is internally testing a web version of Instagram Direct messaging that let's people chat without the app. If, or more likely, when this rolls out publicly, users on a desktop or laptop PC or Mac, a non-Android or iPhone, or that access Instagram via a mobile web browser will be able to privately message other Instagrammers.
