Devil May Cry 5 Takes Dante To His Peak

8 monthes ago   |   By GameSpot

Looking in from the outside, Devil May Cry's Dante doesn't seem like anything unique. He's another roguish and charming anti-hero, firing off cheesy one-liners and making light of the latest big bad looking destroy this, that, and the other. But for fans of the character, and the series at large, Dante is also a character that is defined by gameplay. While the earlier entries in Capcom's action series focused heavily on his attitude, with some added spice thanks to a set of stylish abilities and moves, it wasn't until Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening that the character really came into...

Devil May Cry 5 Lets You Spend Real Money To Upgrade Characters

8 monthes ago   |   By GameSpot

We recently had the opportunity to play Devil May Cry 5 at TGS. The demo shown behind closed doors featured Dante, the original star of the series who is now considered a secondary character to Nero in the new sequel. During our demo we encountered the Divinity Statue, which acts as a shop where you can trade in orbs collected during combat and exploration, and in that menu we discovered that players will have the option to spend real money to accrue more orbs if they wish to expedite the upgrade process and beef up Dante earlier than usual. Speaking to Hideaki Itsuno, director on the game...

Devil May Cry 5 Has Our Attention, But We Aren't Without Concerns

8 monthes ago   |   By GameSpot

With both Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry 5 at TGS, Capcom had a lot to share with fans and press alike. During our behind-closed-doors time we had the chance to play as Nero and experiment with his arm-swapping Devil Breaker ability-which grants him access to a range of attacks based on items collected within stages-as well as fan-favorite Dante. In the video above we outline everything we enjoyed about the demo, and discussed a few elements that caught us off-guard. In particular, we were surprised to discover microtransactions within the game. They are used in a similar manner...

Devil May Cry 5: How a Motorbike Chainsaw Sword Holds the Key to Tradition

8 monthes ago   |   By IGN

Here's Devil May Cry 5's in-game description of the Cavaliere, an actual weapon Dante is able to wield.

“Cavaliere - a motorcycle fused with a demon that splits in two to be wielded as twin swords.”
When equipped, Dante dons two motorbike chassis as if they were chrome boxing gloves. While the description above may say sword, chainsaw is far more accurate. As a combo escalates, the two halves fuse together to form a rideable bike, allowing Dante to power-slide his way through demons. It's gloriously absurd, as you'd imagine, and stupidly fun to use.
But there's more to the Cavaliere than...

How A Motorcycle Became Dante's Newest Weapon in Devil May Cry 5

How A Motorcycle Became Dante's Newest Weapon in Devil May Cry 5

8 monthes ago   |   By GameInformer

One of my biggest takeaways from playing Devil May Cry 5 at this year's TGS is just how damn fun Dante's motorcycle, The Cavaliere, is as a weapon. You can split it in half and wield it to eviscerate enemies, or just hop right on it and run them down. It was by far my favorite weapon in my hands-on time with the game. So much so I couldn't resist asking the developers how it came to be and if they were worried that, perhaps, it was too much fun and would deter people from using other weapons.
So, what's behind giving Dante the motorcycle in battle? You better believe it had to do with the...
